As the year 2023 wrapped up, the Navigation and Maps application category saw varied activity across its top contenders in the United States. Here's a glance at how the leading apps fared in the last quarter, with data provided by Sensor Tower.

Google Maps Go maintained a steady presence with downloads peaking at 435K in the final week of December, after fluctuating around the 360K to 390K mark in previous weeks. Weekly active users saw a slight decrease, starting at around 26M and closing the quarter at approximately 25M.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced a gradual increase in downloads, from 207K in late September to a notable surge to 244K towards the year's end. Active users showed more variability, with a high of nearly 10M in early October, dipping to around 9.3M, and then rebounding to just over 9.8M before ending the quarter with about 9.3M active users.

Google Earth saw its downloads decline from 153K to 130K by the end of Q4, with weekly active users also showing a downward trend, starting at around 1.2M and descending to 1.1M by the close of December.

ChargePoint downloads oscillated throughout the quarter, ending with a high of 27K in the last week of December compared to an initial 23K. Active users presented a steady increase, from 126K in the week of September 25 to approximately 136K in the week of December 18, and slightly dropping to close to 136K by year-end.

Lastly, GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation showed a varied performance with downloads starting at 25K, dipping to a low of 17K, and then spiking to around 31K in the final week of the year. The app's revenue also fluctuated, ending on a high note of 1K USD in the last week. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, initially at around 157K, dipping to 134K, and then jumping to approximately 161K by the end of December.
